For the Honey Pepper Sauce:
- ⅓ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (to thicken)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: In a bowl, whisk eggs. In another bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, salt, and black pepper. Coat the chicken in the egg, then dredge in the flour mixture.
- Fry the Chicken: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on a wire rack.
- Make the Sauce: In a pan, sauté garlic until fragrant. Add soy sauce, honey, vinegar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
- Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
- Coat the Chicken: Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce until fully coated.
- Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions. Serve immediately over rice or with steamed vegetables.
