Ingredients

4–6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or chicken breasts)

5 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

1/3 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)

1/4 cup chicken broth

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Place chicken thighs or breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.

In a small bowl, mix garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, chicken broth, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Pour the sauce over the chicken, ensuring each piece is coated.

Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.

Remove the chicken and, if desired, thicken the sauce with a cornstarch slurry on the stovetop.

Serve the chicken hot, drizzled with sauce, and garnish with parsley or green onions.
Notes

For a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water and add to the sauce. Simmer until thickened.
