Ingredients
– 1 pound fresh mushrooms (cremini, button, or shiitake recommended)
– 3 tablespoons olive oil
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon salt
– ½ teaspoon black pepper
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or fresh thyme if available)
– Optional: 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar for an extra zing
– Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Creating perfectly roasted mushrooms is simple if you follow these easy steps:
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure a good roast.
2. Prepare the Mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms gently with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Trim the ends of the stems if necessary.
3. Cut the Mushrooms: Slice larger mushrooms in half or quarters to ensure even cooking.
4. Make the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme.
5. Toss the Mushrooms: Add the cleaned and cut mushrooms to the bowl and toss to coat them evenly with the marinade.
6. Spread on a Baking Sheet: Arrange the mushrooms on a baking sheet in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding to ensure proper roasting.
7. Roast: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 25–30 minutes. Stir halfway through for even cooking.
8. Add Balsamic Vinegar: If using, drizzle balsamic vinegar on the mushrooms for the last 5 minutes of roasting. This will give an incredible depth of flavor.
9. Remove and Garnish: Once golden brown and tender, take the mushrooms out of the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
10. Serve: Enjoy the roasted mushrooms warm, or let them cool slightly for use in other dishes.
