Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cake:

    • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
    • ½ tsp baking soda
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • ¾ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • ½ cup buttermilk
    • 1 tbsp red food coloring
    • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • For the Cake Pops:

    • ½ cup cream cheese frosting
    • 2 cups chocolate or candy melts (white, milk, or dark)
    • 24 cake pop sticks
    • Sprinkles or decorations (optional)

Instructions

  • Bake the Cake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another. Combine, pour into a greased pan, and bake for 30 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Crumble and Mix: Crumble the cooled cake and mix with cream cheese frosting until the mixture holds together.
  • Shape the Pops: Roll into 1-inch balls, place on a lined baking sheet, and freeze for 15-20 minutes.
  • Dip in Chocolate: Melt chocolate, dip each stick in melted chocolate, insert into cake balls, then fully coat the cake pops. Let excess chocolate drip off.
  • Decorate & Set: Add sprinkles while the coating is wet and let them set at room temperature or in the fridge before serving.

Notes

  • Chill cake pops before dipping for better results.
