- 1 loaf of French bread (cubed)
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and place cubed bread inside.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour mixture evenly over the bread, pressing slightly to soak.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
- Top with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh berries.
Notes
- For a crunchier top, mix ½ cup brown sugar with ¼ cup melted butter and drizzle before baking.
- Use slightly stale bread for the best texture.
