Description

This Overnight French Toast Casserole is an easy, make-ahead breakfast that’s soft, fluffy, and packed with cinnamon and vanilla flavors. Simply prep it the night before, refrigerate overnight, and bake in the morning for a warm and delicious start to your day.

  • 1 loaf of French bread (cubed)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and place cubed bread inside.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour mixture evenly over the bread, pressing slightly to soak.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Top with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh berries.

Notes

  • For a crunchier top, mix ½ cup brown sugar with ¼ cup melted butter and drizzle before baking.
  • Use slightly stale bread for the best texture.
