Ingredients

1/2 cup butter (softened)

3/4 cup white sugar

1 large egg

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (7.4 oz)

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup M&Ms (pastel or regular)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch pan or line with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.

Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.

Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the wet mixture. Mix until just combined.

Fold in M&Ms or sprinkle them on top halfway through baking.

Spread dough evenly in the prepared pan.

Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
