Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cookies:

    • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 tbsp milk
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ tsp baking powder
  • For the Marbled Effect:

    • Gel food coloring (pastel shades like pink, blue, yellow, purple)
  • For the Frosting (Optional):

    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 23 tbsp milk
    • ½ tsp vanilla extract
    • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk, and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Divide the dough into 3-4 portions and color each with different pastel food coloring.
  • Lightly knead the colored dough together to create a marbled effect. Roll the dough out to ¼-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  • Use an egg-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Chill for 15 minutes (optional but recommended).
  • Bake for 7-9 minutes until the edges turn slightly golden. Let cool completely.
  • (Optional) Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to create a glaze. Drizzle over cookies and add sprinkles. Let set before serving.

Notes

  • Chill the dough before baking to help cookies hold their shape.
  • Avoid overmixing the colored dough to maintain vibrant swirls.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for later.
