Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
For the Cinnamon Filling:
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast: Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Make the Dough: Add egg, yolk, and melted butter. Gradually mix in flour and salt until a dough forms.
  • Knead & Rise: Knead for 5-7 minutes, place in a greased bowl, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Prepare the Filling: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread with softened butter, then sprinkle the sugar mixture.
  • Roll & Slice: Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 even pieces. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Make the Frosting: Beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Frost & Serve: Spread frosting over warm rolls and enjoy!

Notes

  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for best results.
  • For overnight rolls, refrigerate after shaping and bake in the morning.
