    • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold & cubed
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 68 tablespoons ice water
  • For the Apple Filling:

    • 67 cups apples, peeled & sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
    • ¾ cup granulated sugar
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small cubes
  • For the Egg Wash:

    • 1 egg
    • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  • Prepare the Crust: Mix flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water gradually until dough forms. Divide into two discs, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the Filling: Toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, salt, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Let sit for 15 minutes.
  • Roll Out Dough: Roll out one dough disc and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan.
  • Assemble the Pie: Pour the apple filling into the crust, dot with butter, and cover with the second dough disc. Seal and crimp the edges, then cut small slits in the top.
  • Bake: Brush with egg wash and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Cool and Serve: Let cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
