Instructions

Creating Halloween Bat Cupcakes is an enjoyable process. Just follow these simple steps to whip up these delicious treats:

1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well blended.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until thoroughly combined.

5. Add Boiling Water: Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. It may be thin, but that’s okay!

6. Fill Cupcake Liners: Pour the batter into the lined cupcake pan, filling each liner about 2/3 of the way full.

7. Bake: Place in the preheated oven. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

8. Cool: Once baked, allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

9. Make the Frosting: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Mix on low until combined. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract and beat on high for about 2 minutes. If you wish for a darker color, add black food coloring and mix until desired color is achieved.

10. Frost Cupcakes: Once the cupcakes are cool, use a piping bag to frost the tops generously with the chocolate frosting.

11. Create Bats: Take two Oreo cookies, split them open, and place them on top of the frosting to resemble bat wings.

12. Finish with Eyes: Add two candy eyes on each cupcake to complete the bat look.
