Description
Juicy bone-in grilled chicken breasts glazed in a tangy, creamy Alabama white barbecue sauce. Smoky, bold, and packed with Southern flavor.
Ingredients
-
4 large bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts (about 1 lb each)
-
1/4 cup olive oil
-
1/2 tsp kosher salt
-
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
-
4 cups white barbecue sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Instructions
-
Prepare a double batch of white barbecue sauce.
-
Marinate chicken in 2 cups of sauce for 4 hours or overnight.
-
Preheat grill to high heat.
-
Remove chicken, rinse and pat dry.
-
Brush chicken with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
-
Grill skin-side down for 2–3 minutes, flip, and cook another 2 minutes.
-
Move to indirect heat (425°F), brush with sauce, cover and cook 5 minutes. Repeat brushing two more times.
-
Finish grilling 10–20 minutes until internal temp reaches 160–162°F.
-
Let rest 5 minutes, then serve with extra sauce.
Notes
-
Always reserve extra sauce for glazing and serving—do not reuse marinade.
-
Sauce improves after chilling for a few hours or overnight.
-
Bone-in chicken stays juicier than boneless.
-
Great served with coleslaw, corn, or roasted veggies.
