Ingredients

Scale

For the Pigs in a Blanket:

  • 2 tubes store-bought crescent roll dough
  • 1 package cocktail franks (about 32 mini hot dogs)
  • 5 cups water
  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 to 3 tbsp everything bagel seasoning
  • Kosher salt & black pepper, to taste

For the Cheater’s Aioli:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Prepare a baking soda bath by boiling 5 cups of water and stirring in ¼ cup of baking soda.
  • Roll out crescent dough and slice each triangle in half lengthwise. Wrap each cocktail frank with dough.
  • Dip each wrapped pig in the baking soda water for 5 seconds. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Brush with egg wash and sprinkle generously with everything bagel seasoning.
  • Bake for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  • Mix all aioli ingredients in a small bowl and serve with warm pigs in a blanket.

Notes

  • The baking soda bath gives the dough a pretzel-like texture. Don’t skip this step!
  • These can be made ahead and stored in the fridge until ready to bake.
  • Freeze unbaked pigs in a blanket for up to 3 months and bake directly from frozen.
