For the Pigs in a Blanket:
- 2 tubes store-bought crescent roll dough
- 1 package cocktail franks (about 32 mini hot dogs)
- 5 cups water
- ¼ cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 to 3 tbsp everything bagel seasoning
- Kosher salt & black pepper, to taste
For the Cheater’s Aioli:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Prepare a baking soda bath by boiling 5 cups of water and stirring in ¼ cup of baking soda.
- Roll out crescent dough and slice each triangle in half lengthwise. Wrap each cocktail frank with dough.
- Dip each wrapped pig in the baking soda water for 5 seconds. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush with egg wash and sprinkle generously with everything bagel seasoning.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Mix all aioli ingredients in a small bowl and serve with warm pigs in a blanket.
Notes
- The baking soda bath gives the dough a pretzel-like texture. Don’t skip this step!
- These can be made ahead and stored in the fridge until ready to bake.
- Freeze unbaked pigs in a blanket for up to 3 months and bake directly from frozen.
