For the Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the Cinnamon Filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp milk (for desired consistency)
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, and granulated sugar.
- Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add eggs, salt, and half of the flour. Mix well.
- Gradually add the remaining flour and knead for 5–7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours.
Make the Filling:
- Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.
Roll & Fill the Dough:
- Punch down the dough, roll it out into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle.
- Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll up the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal pieces.
Bake:
- Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Make the Frosting:
- Beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until creamy.
- Spread over warm rolls and serve.
