  • Author: Julia Hart
  • Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes (including marinating)
  • Yield: 4 servings
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Crispy Tofu Bites are baked to perfection, making them a healthy and flavorful plant-based snack. With a crispy golden exterior and a tender inside, they’re the perfect addition to rice bowls, salads, or wraps. A simple marinade infuses them with bold flavors, and cornstarch ensures the ultimate crunch.

Ingredients

  • Firm tofu (1 block), drained and pressed
  • Soy sauce or tamari (2 tablespoons) for a gluten-free alternative
  • Rice vinegar (1 tablespoon) to add tangy depth
  • Honey (1 tablespoon), or swap for maple syrup to keep it vegan
  • Coconut oil (2 tablespoons), though sesame oil adds a nutty flavor
  • Sriracha (1 teaspoon), with the option to adjust based on spice preference
  • Garlic powder (1 teaspoon) for a rich, savory touch
  • Cornstarch (2 tablespoons) to create that perfect crispy coating

Instructions

  • Press the tofu by placing it between paper towels and weighing it down for at least 30 minutes.
  • Make the marinade by whisking together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, Sriracha, garlic powder, and coconut oil.
  • Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes or triangles.
  • Marinate the tofu for at least 1 hour (overnight for deeper flavor).
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Coat tofu with cornstarch for extra crispiness, then spread on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with dipping sauce or add to rice bowls, salads, or wraps.

Notes

  • For extra crispy tofu, broil for the last 2 minutes.
  • Swap cornstarch for arrowroot powder for a gluten-free option.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
