Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • ½ green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red chili, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef: Toss the beef with cornstarch and salt until coated.
  • Fry the Beef: Heat oil in a pan and fry the beef in batches for 3-4 minutes until crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
  • Make the Sauce: Mix honey, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Make a cornstarch slurry separately.
  • Stir-Fry: Sauté garlic, bell peppers, and chili for 2 minutes. Add the sauce and simmer. Stir in the slurry and cook until thick.
  • Coat the Beef: Toss the crispy beef in the sauce until fully coated.
  • Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy with rice or noodles!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double-fry the beef.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less chili.
