Description

These air fryer sesame cauliflower wings are a crispy, flavorful alternative to traditional wings. Coated in a crunchy breading and tossed in a savory-sweet sesame glaze, they’re the perfect plant-based appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • ⅔ cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free)
  • ⅔ cup non-dairy milk
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup breadcrumbs (regular or gluten-free)

For the Sesame Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons water or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (optional for spice)
  • 12 teaspoons sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 teaspoon water (for thickening)
  • Sesame seeds & chopped scallions for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, non-dairy milk, garlic powder, and salt.
  • Dip cauliflower florets in the batter, then coat them in breadcrumbs.
  • Arrange in a single layer in the air fryer and cook for 10-13 minutes, shaking halfway, until crispy.
  • Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan, then sauté garlic and ginger. Add soy sauce, honey, water, sesame oil, vinegar, gochujang, and sriracha. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
  • Toss crispy cauliflower in the sauce, garnish with sesame seeds and scallions, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs.
  • Adjust spice levels by adding or omitting gochujang and sriracha.
  • Serve with rice or noodles for a full meal.
